The Mallee Coorong NRM Group was formed in February 2006 and meet on the 1st Wednesday of every month rotating throughout the region. These meeting are open to the public and are advertised in local newspapers. Interested community members are welcome to attend and can obtain agenda and meeting details by contacting Jane Fischer at the Lameroo Office Phone 8576 3400.
The Karoonda East Murray, Southern Mallee and parts of the Coorong and Loxton-Waikerie District Council are all located within the Mallee and Coorong NRM Group area.
The Mallee Coorong NRM Group has worked with the SA MDB NRM Board and staff to address NRM issues throughout the region including soil degradation, water allocation plans, rabbit, fox and weed control.
The Group is actively involved in the development and implementation of the SA MDB NRM Board Regional Plan at the local level. They also provide advice and promote public awareness of integrated natural resource management in the area.
Members of the Group are an integral link between the community and the SA MDB NRM Board and staff.
