Irrigation Management Courses

Soils Workshop

The soils workshop covers topics such as different types of soils, how to interpret soil plans, how much moisture soil can hold before drainage occurs, root zone depths, and crop suitability.

Sprinkler System Evaluation Workshop

The irrigation systems workshop covers irrigation system designs, irrigation equipment, pressure and flow, pumps, filters, distribution uniformity, and the overall efficiency of your on-property irrigation system. The irrigation systems workshop also helps explain and demonstrate when to irrigate, how much to apply, and the leaching fraction that is required.

Irrigation Scheduling Workshop

The scheduling course looks at the importance of monitoring soil water, selecting and measuring monitoring sites, monitoring devices, Testwells, plotting data, Full and Refill points, interpreting monitoring equipment and available services.

Drip Irrigation Management Workshop

The following topics are covered in this course; understanding and interpreting system designs, types of drip systems, delivery system restrictions, system installation methods, wetting patterns, pressure and flow testing, pumps, filters and fertigation, monitoring equipment and irrigation management, soil salt contents, maintenance programs, line flushing and record keeping.

Drip Irrigation Maintenance Workshop

The following workshop outlines preventative as well as remedial Maintenance with common principles for all irrigation systems. It is a step-by-step guide for total system care and if carried out on a regular basis your irrigation system should give years of trouble free service.

Drip Irrigation Evaluation Workshop

The drip evaluation workshop explains and demonstrates the testing and calculating of field data on a drip system. The workshop covers the evaluation of drip irrigation systems, what to measure, the equipment needed, measuring pressure and flow rate, drip system performance and calculating field data.

Weather Data Interpretation Workshop

This workshop looks at how climatic data is generated and how interpret the data as a tool to assist in irrigation management and improve irrigation efficiency. The workshop covers the following topics, how is climatic data generated, sensor specifications, accessing data using the internet, data definitions and irrigation management using weather data.

Soil Water Dynamics

This is a new advanced workshop dealing with soil water interpretation generally concentrating on capacitance probes and how to interpret the data for different crops in the relevant irrigation districts.

Pump Efficiency and Maintenance Workshop

This course covers; types of pumps, starting and stopping pumps, pump curves, the importance of maintenance, efficiency loss, predicting overhauls, maintenance programs and implementing a maintenance schedule.
