What is Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD)?...
The SA Murray-Darling Basin has adopted a multi-scale approach to the achievement of Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) in this region.
For home owners, there is great assistance available through our Rainwater Tank Use Page, which provides information on minimising your property’s impact on our precious water resources.
For Local Government and Developers, we have partnered with the District Council of Mount Barker to produce a series of Sustainable Development Fact Sheets that seek to achieve sustainable new residential development. The Board plan to work with other Councils in the region to adapt similar resources for their area. In the meantime, check out the District Council of Mount Barker’s fantastic leadership at the following link:
For industry and Local Government, we have undertaken a region-wide approach to the identification of wastewater recycling opportunities – check out our page for the latest information.
At a State Government level, the Board is supporting and playing an active role on the steering committee for a Planning SA/Australian Government partnership project that aims to remove the impediments to the implementation of WSUD across Greater Adelaide for all non-agricultural development. This exciting project covers part of the SA Murray-Darling Basin NRM Region, and involves a link of critical importance in Greater Adelaide’s reliance on River Murray water to augment reservoir supplies.
