The South Australian Murray-Darling Basin Natural Resources Management Plan (the regional NRM plan) builds upon previous plans and strategies and provides a plan to protect and improve the condition of the natural resources of the SA MDB NRM region.
The regional NRM Plan came into full operation on 1 July 2009.
The preparation of the regional NRM plan created an opportunity for the community to work with the South Australian Murray-Darling Basin Natural Resources Management Board (the SA MDB NRM Board) to develop an integrated vision for the future of natural resources within the region. Initially, a draft regional NRM plan was prepared, which then underwent formal consultation between 3rd December 2008 and 6th February 2009.
Guide to the Regional NRM Plan (3mb)
The implementation of this regional NRM plan is monitored with regular reporting on progress towards achievements of the goals, outcomes and targets. This is developed into a framework of Monitoring, Evaluation, Reporting and Improvement (MERI).
The regional NRM plan provides comprehensive information on natural resources management in the region and outlines strategies and actions that will help address the many challenges facing the region’s natural resources such as climate change, threats to water resources and pressures on biodiversity and productive land.
